What we focus on at the Feminist Institute (FI)

In its work, the Feminist Institute (FI) picks up current issues and puts them up for debate. The FI positions itself in light of political developments and performs networking on an international level. As a provider of political awareness and education for the public, the FI seeks to reflect the range of issues encompassed by feminist movements. There are key socio-political themes and projects, however, on which the FI concentrates its efforts. These partly fall in line with the focus of the Heinrich Boell Foundation.

Peace, Security, Violence | Peace and Security Policy, Violence and Conflict Prevention
This is the main focus of the Feminist Institute, marked by increasing competence. In this area, the FI organizes conferences, symposia and discussions and publishes documentations.

  Feminisms | Theories and Models
The FI focuses on the debates surrounding feminist and gender theories, as well as on strategies employed by different women’s movements, and works for advancements in this area. Here, the "Workshop on the Future of Feminism" played a deciding role [Honorary Bodies]. Other important issues in this area include concepts such as gender democracy and tools such as gender budgeting.

Gunda Werner Fellowship
The Gunda Werner Doctoral Fellowship marks the Feminist Institute's contribution to supporting future feminist scholars. The topic of the second session of the Fellowship, "Gender Dynamics in Violent Conflicts" is closely associated with the main issue of the Feminist Institute. This session will end in September 2006.

Ladies' Lunch | Forum for Green-Oriented Women
Several times a year the Feminist Institute organizes Green Ladies' Lunch, a meeting point for women from politics, academia, the private and cultural sectors. At this forum for green and green-oriented women, topics of discussion are always based on current events issues.
